Life is ... among other things a journey. It has a destination -- religions and philosophies deal with that mainly. However, the Journey itself is also as important as the destination aimed for.
My grandfather had a philosophy -- if he saw a road that interested him and even if he had no idea where it would lead him, he would take it if he wanted to. The Journey is as important as the destination ...
My Journey has been all kinds of things. It has taken a few detours into the realm of "Direct Sales" in the past and ... those experiences made me think I would never do it again. But a deal came along that was just too good to pass up. I jumped in. I may have landed in quicksand, I may just be walking across a quaking swamp. I may have ended up, as Dirk Gently might say (paraphrased, I think), "not where I intended but maybe where I need to be." For now, at least.

More Details ...
Back in January, Fun Stampers Journey, a direct sales company focusing mainly on rubber stamping and papercrafting, ran a fabulous deal! Join the company at half the usual price. This made the cost of starting my business actually less than the price of just one of the items in the kit of supplies -- a die cutting machine -- plus the stamps and inks and card stock and set of dies that coordinates with one of the stamp sets plus a few materials and supplies that have a retail value of one and a half times the cost of the kit ... all-in-all, financially, a deal that as not to be missed ...
It took me a while to decide whether to bother getting this kit -- it was, even as wonderful of a deal as it was, more money than I wanted to spend on anything at the time. (We have had some not so good times over the last few years and every penny needs to be pinched as tightly as possible ...) After doing all the math, I decided I would probably take advantage of the deal.
Next I needed to decide whether I would:
1) Get the kit and let the quarter elapse without placing another order and be deactivated.
2) Get the kit and stay on for a while as a hobbyist since the quarterly minimum is low -- probably as low as the lowest out there in any direct sales company.
3) Attempt to actually run this as a business.
I'm going with #3 for now! :D
